Special exhibitions programme for schools

There are many ways for you and your class to make the most of our special exhibitions. Schools can book in alongside the general public for teacher-led visits throughout the run of the exhibition, or book for a school exclusive morning on selected dates. We also offer facilitated visits and sessions alongside selected exhibitions.

Our private views for teachers offer an opportunity for teachers to enjoy an exclusive visit to the exhibition. Plan your visit, enhance your subject knowledge or just explore.

Teaching resources for use in the classroom and for a visit to the exhibitions are also available to download.

Rodin and the art of ancient Greece
(26 April – 29 July 2018)

Discover one of the greatest and most innovative sculptors of the modern era. Auguste Rodin's admiration for the art of Antiquity informed and shaped his work in unique ways. Presenting the artist's creations side by side with the classical Greek sculptures that influenced his own work, this exceptional exhibition offers a unique opportunity to explore the specifications of the National Curriculum in Art & Design and Classical Civilisation and History or Art.

Learn about the art of Auguste Rodin in this gallery-based session. Find out about Rodin's artistic techniques and the way he captured movement and expression. Discover how the sculptor's innovative treatment of the torso turned it into a genre of art in its own right. Workshops take place during school-exclusive mornings.

Gallery RSE sessions

KS3, 4 & 5

Explore RSE and the notion of body image through object enquiry, activities and discussion. Working with an artist educator these sessions aim to teach RSE in a cross curricular, creative and informative way using the exhibition's objects and contemporary issues to generate discussion. RSE sessions take place during school-exclusive mornings.
