A screening of the film Steamboy directed by Japanese manga artist, screenwriter and director, Katsuhiro Ôtomo [Dōmu, Akira, Metropolis].

In 1860s Britain, a boy inventor finds himself caught in the middle of a deadly conflict over a revolutionary advance in steam power.

Coinciding with The Asahi Shimbun Displays What is Europe? which explores how Asian societies have depicted Europe since the 15th century, the screening will be followed by a Q&A session with IFAC Handa Curator of Japanese Arts, Nicole Rousmaniere, and film journalist, Steve Rose.
