For one day only Saudi Arabian artist Zahra Al-Ghamdi will be producing a site-specific installation in the Great Court.

This is the first time she has constructed the large-scale floor installation in view of an audience.

Zahra grew up surrounded by the traditional domestic architecture of Saudi Arabia. Her work looks at the important of location and tradition using ‘humble’ materials such as sand and ephemera she has collected from abandoned villages. Flashes of colour allude to a rich and vibrant world that existed in these domestic spaces.

This commission has been generously supported by individual donors Faisal Tamer and Sara Alireza.
